Working as a tarot reader doesn’t mean you work only the hours you actually read the cards, there are many hours put in the background before booking a reading with a client. Your partner may not understand that even if you have only given a few readings in one day, you may have to work many more hours on another “things” of the business.
Those days you’re busy working, who’s going to do the cooking, house cleaning, shopping? If you have responsibilities like children or other family members, you have to know if your partner is willing to help, even if they also work.
This question is vital, because I see many teary, frustrated, sad and angry tarot readers at their limits because their partners don’t understand that spiritual work is just as important as ” real work.” (and I have seen this both with spiritual business that are at their first steps and earning next to nothing to businesses that are making more money that the “real job).
If you are in a relationship, or even with family members, be clear about the support you will need, be clear about the value of your work. Explain how much work, time and effort you will have to put in.
Make sure your know yourself how much you can give to your spiritual business and how much you can expect to receive from your loved one before you open your business and become self-employed.
Just because your partner sees it as “nice, good, cute or funny” you read the tarot or says “sure, do what you want,” doesn’t mean he or she will be a ” support ” when it comes to your work.
Here’s a starter list of things you may want to talk about with your partner before you make the transition from hobby to work. I am sure you will find plenty more to add.
Time – How many hours a day is it practical that you work, and that does just include the readings but also the social media, marketing, networking, emails, chats, ect. What time table would work for you both?
Where – Where will these readings take place? Will you work from home? Do you have private space for your work? Will you be out travelling to venues, if so how would you get there? Will you travel to peoples homes? If so how will you deal with your safety. Will you need silence during your readings?
How – Will you need extra things like faster internet, better signal for long distant readings? Will you need a new computer, laptop, webcam, mike, better lighting? Will you need to buy a new table and chairs or a healing bed.
What if – What if your partner who is now working lost his or her job or had to stay at home for whatever reason. How would you be able to continue with your business? Would they suddenly want your reading space? What if one of your kids had no school and you had a reading booked but your partner had planned to go play gold with friends? Who would cancel?
This list can be as long as you like but it really is a good idea to talk things through before you start manifesting your spiritual business and end up in no end of disappointment and arguments.
Hope this was helpful, if so don’t forget to share it on your social media.
thank you, love Gaynor.
