What Is a Successful Spiritual Business?

Success looks different to everyone, and we all have different needs and goals that we would like to achieve. But for me, success means doing something that is aligned with our soul’s purpose, and when it comes to business, it is no different.

A successful spiritual business is not based on how much money it generates, although, as a business, generating abundance is usually part of it. But it’s about much more than that.

A successful spiritual business is one that allows you to make a living from your spiritual work while helping others and doing something you are passionate about. It is about leaving a positive mark on the world and on other people’s lives in some way.

For example, if you are a tarot reader, medium, spiritual teacher or energy healer, a successful spiritual business can mean, from a business perspective:

  • Attracting clients who value your work and are willing to pay for it.

  • Having financial stability instead of constantly worrying about where your next client will come from.

  • Generating enough abundance and having systems in place so that taxes and business bills do not cause you excessive stress every month.

  • Building your reputation so that people trust you and recommend you to others.

  • Growing your business so that you can reach more people, offer your services and help more people.

But growth, finances and the business side of things are only one part of the whole picture. To achieve true success, and I am not talking about money, but the kind of success that fulfils your soul, it can mean:

  • Making a difference in people’s lives through your spiritual work.

  • Helping others live their soul’s purpose and create a life that is aligned with it.

  • Helping others open their hearts to give love, receive love and feel more connected to Source (God, universal energy, etc.).

  • Having the freedom to organise your work and build a business that fits the life you want.

  • Having time to work while also pursuing other projects that inspire you.

  • Having the time and financial resources to be more present in the lives of the people you love.

  • Being able to help others out of generosity.

  • Creating a community or circle of friends where everyone feels supported.

These are just some of the things that, for me, make a spiritual business successful.

Of course, we can have goals. Who doesn’t want to run a six-figure business? Especially those who teach business. But it is not just about having money; it is about having greater financial security and more opportunities to be generous. The more money you generate, the more you can expand some of your goals and the more security your business can offer you, allowing you to focus on other things.

However, what I would consider an unspiritual business within the spiritual industry is something I have been seeing a lot lately and have witnessed over the last few decades: people who just want to make money.

Starting a spiritual business purely for money, especially if you are looking to make money quickly, is one of the fastest ways to end up suffering from burnout, failing and potentially hurting other people.

Creating a spiritual business purely for money is a long way from spirituality and can take you completely away from your soul’s path, creating a misalignment that may take you years to correct.

Anyone can open a business using spiritual tools and services and make money, but not everyone should do it. If it is not aligned with your soul’s purpose, perhaps tarot, mediumship or the spiritual activities you do would be better suited to a hobby, a pastime or even a part-time job.

But turning your passion into a real business when it is not aligned with your purpose is difficult.

Thinking about money before thinking about how what you offer helps others means you are starting a business from a desire to receive rather than a desire to give. And this may look like success, but it will not give you what you are truly looking for.

This is why some people appear to have successful businesses. They achieve impressive financial figures, have lots of followers and tick all the boxes that, on paper, represent success. Yet, they are unhappy, burnt out and unable to cope with the business they have created.

Often, this happens because they have built an unbalanced business, focusing more on receiving than giving, on how much they can earn rather than how they can help.

The opposite also happens: people who only wanted to give and not receive. As a result, they may have to take on other jobs to make a living and end up with a full-time business that they could only manage part-time, feeling exhausted, lacking resources and having no financial security.

Balance and alignment in a spiritual business are essential for achieving success. But, as I have already said, success looks different to everyone.

Having a successful spiritual business is not just about being good at tarot, mediumship or energy healing. It also means knowing how to build something that is aligned with your soul’s purpose while helping other people live in alignment with theirs.
