Running a business and my TO DO list.
Running a business is different for everyone. The most important thing for me and my business is my TO DO list. I make sure I have my list prepared before I begin my days work, without it I get lost on social media and spend far more time than needed on everything. I thought it would be fun to share a behind the scenes look at how I organise my working day.
Yesterday i entered my home office to work at 10.30 am and wrapped up at 8.30 pm.
I immediately went to work on my to do list I had prepared.
- Answer emails. (there was a lot)
- Answer Facebook messages.
- Answer YouTube messages.
- Create Facebook post in English.
- Create Facebook post in Spanish.
- Record YouTube videos en Spanish.
- Make YouTube thumbnail for videos.
- Edit and upload videos.
- Post news of new videos on Spanish Facebook page.
- Fix error I found on my web page.
- Send a pic to Instagram
- Work on new write up for one of my short tarot courses.
- Work on new designs, publicity and writing for new Tarot workshop.
This took up my morning. I was then able to take a break from working alone and take a little time to have fun, this included chatting to people on Facebook, joining in on a few group discussions and talking to people from my online community. I spent around 40 minutes doing this.
My husband made dinner, chicken and rice, very Spanish and exactly what I fancied.
After dinner I made a cup of tea and returned to my office.
My To Do list of the day continued.
- Coaching session for X. This was fun and as with all of my coaching sessions it didn’t feel like work at all. We addressed the major Arcana and the issues my client was having with certain cards. The hour flew by and I added a little extra onto my clients time because we were having fun and enjoying the coaching.
- Write for one hour of new book. – I didn’t do this because I wasn’t feeling it. I have been slacking on my writing this last few weeks and although I know my books are important both to me and my readers, I just wasn’t feeling the vibe. So I drew a line over this.
- Check online sales for previous books and attend any issues. (there was no issues, thankfully.)
- Work on new correspondence Tarot course. – I only worked on this for 20 minutes as time was running short.
- Work….. This next chunk of the evening was my readings time. I redid my makeup, freshened up and sat in front on my Skype doing my one to one with my clients. Once I finished, I made another cup of tea and ate a few cookies that are now becoming a small addiction and are adding even more pounds to my butt.
- STOP LIST.. I had to go off the list for a short while as the Facebook posts I had prepared this morning I hadn’t saved. FFS. I returned to my designer web page and redid four of them. The rest going onto tomorrows to do list. Crisis over and another three cookies later I continued.
- Reply to emails
- Reply to Facebook posts and messages
- Reply to Spanish YouTube messages. -You may be thinking this is how my day started, and it was, but of course now I had lots of new messages. Also the two videos I had uploaded to my YouTube had brought in messages and I like to reply to my viewers.
After replying to emails and messages it was time for me to turn off my computer.
I changed into my PJs and yes another cup of tea! The wind was crazy outside and I sat and watched the waves go wild, pleased to be inside, safe from the madness, and yet a little worried the wind was going to throw my windows at me. I gave thanks to my day, The people I had talked to, the magic of being able to talk to people from around the world whilst sat in the comfort of my office.
Everyone who runs their own business does it differently. I could outsource a lot of my work, but I actually enjoy it. I love the contrast to giving a reading and then diving into a web problem or designing a publicity image. I love answering my own emails and booking people in at a time that feels right with my vibe. Maybe one day outsourcing will be part of my business norm, but not now.
Running a business isn’t easy at all but for me I do what I love. I have tons of offers to branch out and do more, do things different, expand with others etc. but at the moment I love doing it my way, my time, my work. Having a To Do list everyday helps me organise and keep on top of what is fast becoming an amazing business. I thought it would be fun to give you an insiders look.
