More Followers Don't Make a Better Medium

Thanks to social media, I have met some of my closest friends, built a huge client list of incredible people and met some wonderful, genuine mediums who work to high standards and from the heart.

For anyone working in the spiritual field, like mediums, tarotistas etc., social media is a place where you can get known, build a community, offer your services and even demonstrate your work.

However, with all the unicorns, love and light, there is also a darker side to these platforms that I want to talk about today.

Many good and real mediums are being lost online because they are not content creators on platforms where content creation is a must.

What most people see is that often those who are the loudest have the biggest audiences, and they assume that they must be the better mediums. They see someone with thousands of followers and think, this person must know what they are talking about when it comes to mediumship because look at how many people follow them.

Whereas Jenny the medium, who has trained, studied, practised and has years of experience working as a medium, only has 76 followers, so she must not be any good.

Of course, most mediums on social media want a growing audience. There is nothing wrong with growing a huge audience. The more people in our community, the more we can share our message, help share an understanding of mediumship and the more potential clients we can work with.

However, we have to know the difference between a real medium working hard on social media to share their message, using content creation to build their community and create a business, and those who only want the audience, the quick fame, and are riding on the backs of other mediums.

A medium with experience and true ethics can have anything from 1 to 1 million followers.

But the problem is, a fake medium with no ethics, regurgitating posts from other mediums, copying work, ideas, PDFs, coursework etc., can also have anything from 1 to 1 million followers.

More followers does not automatically mean better mediums.

I have seen some authentic mediums who work hard on their content creation, almost as if it were another job, sharing their message and reaching as many people as possible.

These hardworking mediums often have to wear all the hats and be very creative, open, educational or even entertaining on some level to reach a large audience.

And I have seen some very unauthentic mediums, fake mediums, and some very ego-driven souls who work just as hard on their content creation but for a very different reason.

Their content is the work. They want the numbers, the fame, the followers, the sales, the applause,  and sadly, for many people it is hard to know the difference.

I don’t have the solution. It’s hard with so many new mediums, but what is working for me is that I listen to my instinct and let my guide guide me.

I don’t look at the followers, or how much or how little content a medium puts out. First, I let my soul guide me, I stay alert and I trust in the universe that, in the end, this phase in mediumship is also part of a bigger plan.
